How to use Kaunas card

All types of electronic tickets (including one calendar month ticket) must be tagged on by placing the card on the ticket validator area marked with the symbol of the card when boarding the bus or trolleybus via the front door.

    • Enter the bus or trolleybus via the front door;
    • Place the card on the ticket validator near the driver;
    • When tagging on the e-ticket WATCH the screen and check the amount of cash being charged: MOKĖTA X,XX; EUR. Second line identifies the amount of cash left: LIKO XX,XX EUR.

    • You can also check active electronic tickets and the cash balance:
      • Place the card to another ticket validator in the vehicle
      • In the screen appears note: MOKĖTA UŽ 1 BIL., second line shows LIKO XX,XX EUR.

    Checking the active ticket is not charged.

    If cash balance is insufficient, the note NEPAKANKAMAS LIKUTIS appears on the screen and the travel is not paid.

    If there are periodic electronic tickets on card that are not activated, single electronic tickets are unavailable.

    Bear in mind that there are different types of ticket validators, thus Kaunas card must be placed at the different area of ticket validators – grey or yellow zone marked with the symbol of the card.

     

    • Single electronic tickets can be used for paying for more than one commuter (up to 6 persons). Pay for each commuter separately:
      • Press button No. 1;
      • Note appears on the screen MOKĖJIMAS UŽ BILIETĄ.

    • Place the card to the ticket validator
    • Note appears on the screen MOKĖTA X.XX EUR, second line shows cash balance.

    To make sure that payment is made:

    • Place the card to another ticket validator;
    • Note appears on the screen: MOKĖTA UŽ 2 BIL., second line shows: LIKO XX,XX EUR.

    Full price is charged when paying for other commuter. No tax benefits or bus change is provided for other commuter.

  • To activate bus/trolleybus periodic electronic tickets (3, 7, 30, 92, 365 days):

    • Keep the card off the ticket validator;
    • Press the button No. 2;
    • When note appears on the screen BILIETO AKTYVAVIMAS place the card to the area marked with the symbol of the card.

    • Afterwards note appears on the screen: REGISTRUOJAMAS IKI 20XX-MM-DD* (the date of ticket validity).

    Electronic tickets that are not valid on Saturday and Sunday can be activated only on workdays (Mon-Fri). When activating this type of ticket on Saturday or Sunday, note on the screen appears NEGALIMA AKTYV. TERMIN. BIL. and the ticket will not be activated.

    Electronic tickets of other types can be activated from Monday to Sunday, except night buses (13N, 14N, 37N).

    Activated tickets must be tagged on every time boarding the bus only by placing the card to the ticket validator.

    Activated electronic tickets are not valid on night buses marked with letter N (13N, 14N, 37N).

    • If your Kaunas card is topped up with single electronic tickets, you can check the cash balance in the bus:
      • Keep the card off the ticket validator;
      • Press button No. 3;
      • The note appears on the screen: E. BILIETO INFORMACIJA;

    • Place and hold the card at the area marked with the symbol of the card;
    • The note appears on the screen: LIKO X,XX EUR. This note refers to the cash balance on your Kaunas card.

    Holding your card afterwards the cash balance note, screen shows electronic ticket that is not activated yet, if any.

  • When using single electronic tickets, you can change the bus/trolleybus within 30 min without any additional charge.

    • Change the bus and tag on the ticket once again immediately: first line on the screen of ticket validator shows MOKĖTA 0,00 EUR, second line shows LIKO XX,XX EUR (cash balance on card).

    You can change the bus only once after the first tag on of the ticket.

    When changing from bus/trolleybus to shuttle bus, whole price of travel is 1,10 EUR:

    • If paid 0,70 EUR in bus/trolleybus, shuttle bus will charge additionally 0,40 EUR;
    • If paid 0,35 EUR in bus/trolleybus, shuttle bus will charge additionally  0,75 EUR;
    • If paid 0,14 EUR in bus/trolleybus, shuttle bus will charge additionally  0,96 EUR.

    • If paid 1,10 EUR in shuttle bus, no additional charge in bus trolleybus is applicable.

    • If paid 1,10 EUR in shuttle bus, no additional charge in other shuttle bus is applicable.

    After the change to bus/trolleybus/shuttle bus, do not forget to tag on the ticket again.

    Possibility of paying for other commuter does not provide bus change for that commuter.

     

    • Enter the bus/trolleybus via front door;
    • Place the card at the area of ticket validator marked with the symbol of the card;
    • Hold the card until screen of the ticket validator will show the note;
    • If you have periodic electronic e-ticket activated on bus or monthly e-ticket, screen will show the date of e-ticket validity: REGISTRUOTAS IKI 201X-MM-DD.

    • If there are no valid e-tickets on card, screen will show the note NEPAKANKAMAS LIKUTIS and travel will not be paid.

    To continue the travel and use the transport, buy single paper ticket from the driver.

    • You must transfer e-ticket to the card using ticket validator within 72 hours, but no earlier than 30 minutes after the top up. To save the information and transfer the e-ticket to the card:
      • After boarding the bus/trolleybus, go to the ticket validator with a gap on the right side. This ticket validator is at the rear door of the bus;
      • Keep the card off the ticket validator (approx. 20 cm away);
      • Press button No. 3 twice;
      • When the note KORTELĖS PAPILDYMAS appears on the screen, put the card into the gap on the right side of ticket validator and wait until the screen shows ATLIKTA;

      Pull out the card and tag on the single e-ticket or activate periodic e-ticket.
